Just when American's thought they could achieve the America dream, improper farming made the drought worse and the government had no way to help the people. Americans started to lose hope for the American dream. Since the economy was so low, during the war, most of America's food and resources had to go towards the soldiers at the front. This caused many families to lose their jobs and homes. In order to get out of this depression, President Roosevelt decided to make a series of programs that would help give people back their jobs. One of those programs was the Civilian Conservation Corps. The program removed youths from the streets and they were given paying jobs and provided with food and shelter. Some of the jobs they had were building reservoirs and bridges, and cut fire lanes through forests. The program aimed for over two million unemployed unmarried men between the ages of 17 and 25 and they earned $30 dollars per month, most of which was sent directly to their families. Thanks to President Roosevelt's New Deal, people were making money to provide for themselves and their families.
